1.
Let the waves wash over any grains of memory rhat are left that are unspoken of you Let the water bleed the colours of our past into a tie-dyed mess Whispering words I could never tell you til the tide comes in I’ve nothing left
2.
Pick a card, any card Every card’s a memory Clear as a picture as postcards flashing through my memory I don’t remember you yet - but I feel like we might have been The mind works in such peculiar ways Pick a card, any card Every card’s a memory flashing through my memory
3.
Forget, for food improvident and spare The richest garden in your memory; Bring down the white fruit from the tree Which is too heavy for the tree to bear. The richest garden in your memory You shall begin to change, with that despair Which is too heavy for the tree to bear, The secret vision that you are not free. You shall begin to change with that despair, The moon that skews the circle of the sea. The secret vision that you are not free Is no less true for wisdom, no less fair. The moon that skews the circle of the sea, Promises of apples hung among the air, Is no less true for wisdom, no less fair; Weigh them, silver in your hand, for me. Poem by Emily Grosholz (published in: Great Circles: The Transits of Mathematics and Poetry by Emily Grosholz, Springer 2018, pages 20-21)

Stop giving my heart bruises and let her grow I’ve got to nurture my heartplant exercise that muscle and let her grow
6.
Let the waves wash over any grains of memory rhat are left that are unspoken of you Let the water bleed the colours of our past into a tie-dyed mess Whispering words I could never tell you til the tide comes in I’ve nothing left

about

Earlier this year London-based artist Hinako Omori released her debut full-length album, ‘a journey…’ to high critical acclaim. Now, Hinako follows it with details of 'a journey with friends...' in which she invites peers to rework the delicate, soothing sounds on the original record. 'a journey with friends...' will be released on July 29th 2022.

'a journey...' saw Omori experimenting with the physical and psychological effects of different frequencies, meditating on healing and soothing sounds and taking inspiration from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest-bathing. On 'a journey with friends...', the tracks offered a new perspective from Patricia Wolf, Matt Robertson, Akiko Haruna, Foodman and Coby Sey, as well as one track re-worked by Hinako herself. Speaking on the collaborations, she comments: "I am very happy and honoured to collaborate with close friends and favourite artists, and hearing reimagined versions of the album tracks being taken on an entirely new journey has been magical."

Hinako Omori:

Hinako Omori began realising her own creative visions as a solo artist four years ago, beginning with the transportive 12" single ‘Voyage’ (May 2019). This was shortly followed up with EP ‘Auraelia’ (Nov 2019), which was inspired by a period in which she experienced intense migraines that were accompanied by auras and other visual distortions.

Omori is a composer who thinks deeply about her music, and provides generously to her listeners. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she moved to the UK when she was three years old and lives in London. She began her musical path learning classical piano, later training as a sound engineer, and has since moved into working with analogue synths (on ‘a journey...’ she uses a Prophet 08 and Moog Matriarch).

Previous to releasing her own solo material she toured with and played on records by a raft of critically acclaimed musicians, including Kae Tempest, Georgia, and EOB, among many others, but it is her work in sound engineering that provides the bedrock of skills that manifest her vision for ‘a journey...’, articulating a whole world in binaural field recordings, analogue synthesisers and augmented vocals.
